Pricing by hour, day and night
How hourly, daily and nightly prices are counted, where partial units round up, and how per-person prices and extra-person fees work.
Two separate choices shape a price:
- The pricing type — Fixed price, Tiered or Quotation — described in Service options and pricing models.
- The rental unit — Hourly, Daily or Nightly — which decides how the booked period is counted. This article is about that.
Where you set it
For services that rent out a resource (vehicles, rooms) or sell overnight stays (accommodation, pitches), open the service wizard's Offer step and set the Rental unit on each service option under How is this rental priced?. New vehicle services start with Daily; accommodation, room and pitch services start with Nightly. You can change it per option.
Customers and admins choose exact dates and times; the unit only decides how many billable units those add up to. Units are whole numbers: a partly used unit is charged as a full one.
Daily — 24-hour periods from pick-up
A day is a 24-hour period counted from the exact pick-up time, not a calendar day. Any part of a further 24-hour period counts as a whole day.
| Pick-up | Return | Billed |
|---|---|---|
| Monday 10:00 | Tuesday 10:00 | 1 day |
| Monday 10:00 | Tuesday 10:01 | 2 days |
| Monday 10:00 | Thursday 10:00 (3 × 24 hours) | 3 days |
| Monday 10:00 | Thursday 10:05 | 4 days — five minutes into a fourth period |
A rental is always at least one day.
Nightly — calendar nights
Nights are counted by calendar date: the number of dates between arrival and departure. Check-in and check-out times do not change the count.
| Arrival | Departure | Billed |
|---|---|---|
| 15 July | 18 July | 3 nights |
| Friday 15:00 | Sunday 11:00 | 2 nights |
| Friday 15:00 | Monday 11:00 | 3 nights |
A stay is always at least one night. Check-in and check-out times still matter for what customers may choose — see Resource-based services.
Hourly — blocks
Hourly bookings are counted in blocks. Every started block is charged as a whole block.
- For a service that rents out a resource, the block length is the option's own length — the Minimum rental block you set (or the length of its session).
- Example with a 60-minute block: 60 minutes is 1 block, 61 minutes is 2 blocks. A booking from 10:00 to 12:30 is 3 blocks of 60 minutes, or 2 blocks of 90 minutes.
A booking is always at least one block.
Per person
For a service delivered by a team and priced hourly, the price does not grow with the length of the booking. It is the option price per person booked: at 60 per person, a booking for two people costs 120, and making the booking longer does not change that.
One-time amounts in a tiered price
A Tiered price can combine one-time amounts — a fixed booking fee, or optional add-ons priced per item — with the per-day or per-night price. For daily and nightly rentals those one-time amounts are charged once per booking; only the per-unit price is multiplied by the number of days or nights. Example: a booking fee of 50, one child seat at 25, and 3 days at 50 per day is 50 + 25 + 3 × 50 = 225. With two child seats it is 250. For hourly rentals the price is multiplied by the number of blocks.
Extra-person fees
Vehicle services can charge for additional drivers, and accommodation-type services for additional guests, beyond the number included. In the service settings choose the Fee type:
| Fee type | What it charges |
|---|---|
| No charge | Extra people never change the price |
| Fixed per extra driver (or guest) | The amount × the number of extra people |
| Per day/night/hour | The amount × extra people × the billable units |
| Percentage of rental | The percentage of the rental price × extra people |
Examples with two extra people and a 3-day rental priced at 300: a fixed fee of 12.50 is 25.00; a per-day fee of 12.50 is 12.50 × 2 × 3 = 75.00; a 10% fee is 10% of 300 × 2 = 60.00.
The words your customers see for drivers and guests follow your own terminology; the fee settings themselves keep the standard labels above.
